Gestalten is excited to release the first monograph from the trailblazing Belgian designer Arne Quinze Works which extensively introduces the designer’s full creative universe from the past, present and future. Over 40 invigorating design projects crossing over from furniture, interiors and architecture to urban planning, car design and footwear are showcased with lavish photos, personal sketches and incisive text giving insight into Quinze’s cosmos.

To celebrate the release of the book, Arne Quinze will be hosting a book launch event in his hometown Kortrijk during the INTEREUR08 design biannual. Together with Gestalten editor Lukas Feireiss, they will be presenting the book and with a short talk on October 18, 2008 starting at 8:00 PM at Gallery 113, Quinze & Milan's gallery and showroom (Walle 113, 8500 Kortrijk).

REBIRTH ist eine einzigartige futuristische und provozierende Skulptur von Arne Quinze für das wohlbekannte und herausragende Pariser 5 Sterne Hotel Le Monceau on Avenue Hoche. (Hemingway, Walt Disney, Michael Jackson und Robert De Niro, nur um einige zu nennen, stiegen hier ab…)

Der Art Deco Tempel wird seine Türen für ein ganzes Jahr schließen während es einer Totalerneuerung durch Philip Stark unterzogen wird. Aber das Hotel wird nicht leise gehen sondern gibt ein exklusives Fest. In vollem Kontrast zum ausladend dekorierten Interieur wird Arne Quinze mit einer neuen gigantischen futuristischen Installation aufspielen und eine exklusive Gruppe von VIP-Gästen ist eingeladen, ungelöstes durch Teilnahme an der anschließenden „Demolition Party“ durch Zerschlagen, Zertrümmern und generell Auslöschen des verbleibenden zu klären.

REBIRTH BY ARNE QUINZE Die Schillernde Skulptur —die nur für eine exklusive Nacht besteht— Umfasst das gesamte Hotelgebäude wie ein erobernder und verwegener Alienstrom, Wände, Gänge, Treppen, Lobbies und Zimmer durchbrechend und durchlaufend. Mit ihren 15km fluoreszierenden roten Holzes und 40 Videoscreens bietet der vorsichtig berechnete endlose Energiefluss den REBIRTH darstellt eine Vorstellungssprengende Erfahrung für das Publikum.

REBIRTH reflektiert den Übergangsmoment in der das Gebäude seine Unordnung, sein Chaos und seine unzähligen Geschichten offenbart. Es speit seine gesamte gefangene Energie der letzten Jahrzehnte als Hotel aus. Es ist eine organische Sprengbombe, die still in der Luft hängt, gerade für einen Moment, in perfekter Anordnung, bevor es sich auflöst und verschwindet um sich in eine neue strukturierte Einheit zu verwandeln…

Cityscape - The Book

Cityscape is a colossal wooden sculpture in Brussels’ Quartier Louise. With it, the artist and designer Arne Quinze has shown how creative visions at the intersection of architecture, art, design and urban planning can make a social and structural impact on their surroundings.
